Goldberg hints at WWE retirement match location

Without directly revealing where it will be taking place, Goldberg has given a big hint regarding the location for his retirement match.

“It’s going to be in the South,” Goldberg told MySA in a profile piece published on Friday. “This gives me the opportunity to put a stamp on my career in front of the people I care the most about.”

Given those comments, Atlanta would appear to be the most likely location for the bout. Goldberg played college football at the University of Georgia in Athens, was on the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL, and was billed from Atlanta during his wrestling career.

Goldberg’s appearance at WWE Bad Blood 2024 took place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. That night, he was involved in an angle teasing a match against Gunther. It has not been confirmed if Gunther will be Goldberg’s final opponent.

The 58-year-old Goldberg told MySA that he’s spent the past four months training for the match. That training has included monthly sessions at Black Diamond Martial Arts where he lives in Boerne, Texas. A date for the retirement match has not been announced yet, but it will be happening in 2025. MySA writes that Goldberg has “been approved for some creative control of the rollout plans for the date’s announcement.”

The match will be Goldberg’s first time competing in the ring since February 2022.
