Interim Women’s Champion crowned at WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2
Chelsea Green is the interim WWE Women’s Champion.
Green’s shocking victory at SummerSlam on Sunday came after Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend fell to the floor, as well as Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair who were battling on another ladder. Green, who had been laid out, managed to recover and climbed the ladder, taking the opportunity to grab the title and win her first WWE Women’s Championship.
With the victory, Green will soon face Rhea Ripley, who is still WWE Women’s Champion while recovering from a knee injury suffered back in June.
The road to an interim champion
In the weeks leading to SummerSlam, it was announced that an interim WWE Women’s Champion would be crowned at SummerSlam in a five-woman ladder match. Green won her qualifying match, defeating Kiana James.
However, it wasn’t easy for one person: Nia Jax, who had two opportunities to qualify. Both times, she was thwarted by Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair, both of whom advanced after attacking one another during their matches. On Sunday, both women focused on one another as B-Fab and Michin, Cargill’s associates, frequently interfered.
