John Cena-Cody Rhodes contract signing set for WWE SmackDown

John Cena and Cody Rhodes will make their SummerSlam title match officially official this Friday night.
It was already announced that Cena and Rhodes would both be appearing on SmackDown this week, and WWE has now revealed that the two will take part in a contract signing on the episode. Cena and Rhodes are set to headline SummerSlam for the Undisputed WWE Championship in just over two weeks.
This year’s PLE is the first-ever two-night SummerSlam, and it will be the last SummerSlam that Cena competes at ahead of his retirement from the ring in December 2025. The PLE is being held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3.
Cena vs. Rhodes is a rematch from WrestleMania 41, where the heel Cena defeated Rhodes to begin his 17th World title reign. Rhodes earned a shot to reclaim the belt by winning WWE’s King of the Ring tournament.
Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas is hosting SmackDown this Friday night. The Cena-Rhodes segment will be one of their final promo exchanges before SummerSlam. Cena is not advertised for next week’s SmackDown but will be back for the SummerSlam go-home show on August 1.
No other announcements have been made yet for this Friday’s show.
