John Cena says ‘it is an honor’ to face Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
John Cena says it’s an honor to be facing Gunther as his final opponent.
Gunther won The Last Time is Now tournament, defeating LA Knight in the finals on Friday’s edition of WWE SmackDown. Cena responded to a WWE social media post announcing Gunther as his opponent for next week’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, writing:
“The stage is set for One Last Match. On a night of epic proportions, it is an honor to face off against an opponent who I respect and who has earned the right to issue this final challenge! I will bring my best, I know he will do the same! Don’t miss the Final Time! #SNME @peacock”
Three matches are now official for the December 13 show at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. In addition to Cena vs. Gunther, two WWE main roster vs. NXT roster matches have been scheduled. WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will wrestle the winner of Ricky Saints vs. Oba Femi at NXT Deadline, and Bayley will wrestle Sol Ruca.
As of Friday’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, 16,483 tickets have been distributed to the show, with a little under 800 still available.
