John Cena to host Saturday Night Live this month

John Cena will soon be making another prominent mainstream television appearance.

NBC announced on Friday that Cena would be hosting Saturday Night Live on December 10th. Cena will be the third professional wrestler in the history of SNL to host the show, with The Rock and Hulk Hogan previously handling the duties. The Rock’s first appearance came in 2000 as he was on the verge of breaking into Hollywood, and Hogan hosted the show with Mr. T prior to the first WrestleMania.

Cena tweeted on Friday: “So incredibly honored & excited to host @nbcsnl on Dec. 10th. Can’t wait to be live from NYC on a Saturday night!!”

The appearance comes as Cena’s wrestling schedule has become considerably reduced and his profile outside of WWE has grown. It was also announced earlier this week that Cena would have a role in “The Pact,” an upcoming comedy directed by Kay Cannon and also starring Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz.

Cena previously made a brief cameo appearance on SNL in 2009.
