John Cena reveals the toughest match he’s had in his career

John Cena recounts the time he had to wrestle himself.

The record-breaking champion talked to Justin Barrasso during an interview at Fan Expo Boston on Saturday. When asked about the toughest match he’s had in his career, he brought up the Firefly Funhouse match he had with Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36 back in 2020.

“It’s the match I had in the Firefly Fun House,” said Cena. “The reason that opponent was tough–and I know it was against Bray Wyatt–was because that was more or less a match against me. I’ll say that was my toughest match.”

WrestleMania 36 was a show that was eventually moved to the WWE Performance Center behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and also served as the first-ever two night WrestleMania. In a bizarre cinematic-style encounter, Wyatt emerged victorious over Cena on the second night of the show.

Cena is winding down his career as he is set to have his final match in December. Earlier in the year he surpassed Ric Flair’s sixteen world title wins with a seventeenth title win over Cody Rhodes, who defeated Cena last weekend at SummerSlam to regain the title.
