John Cena’s return to WWE television is less than two weeks away.

In an announcement that was made by Fox Sports, it was revealed that Cena will make his WWE return on the Friday, September 1 episode of SmackDown. The show is taking place at the GIANT Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

What Cena will be doing on the show hasn’t been disclosed. The episode is SmackDown’s go-home show for Payback.

This will be Cena’s first in-person appearance for WWE since showing up as a surprise at Money in the Bank in London this July. During that appearance, Cena lobbied for WWE to bring WrestleMania to London. An interaction between Cena and Grayson Waller led to Cena laying out Waller with an Attitude Adjustment.

As part of Edge’s 25th anniversary celebration, a video from Cena aired on SmackDown last Friday.

Cena was in action at WrestleMania 39 earlier this year, losing to Austin Theory.

WWE has confirmed that Cena will also be appearing at their Superstar Spectacle live event in India on Friday, September 8.
