After weeks of buildup, John Cena is now finally set to close his chapter against Gunther.

In the main event of the December 5th edition of SmackDown, Gunther defeated LA Knight in the finals of the Last Time Is Now tournament. The former World Heavyweight Champion has now secured the opportunity to be Cena’s final opponent.

In a tournament lasting over multiple weeks and featuring several pro-wrestlers, Gunther maintained his dominance and defeated several top names to earn his spot. Despite LA Knight’s resilience, he ultimately could not withstand Gunther’s power and was forced to tap out.

In a week, fans from across the globe will witness Cena face Gunther at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C before he hangs up his boots.

Following the conclusion of the match, Gunther issued a warning to Cena, “Hey John [Cena]! I hope you paid attention. At Saturday Night’s Main Event you finally and definitely will give up. You’re gonna tap out.”

The December 13th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event will also showcase multiple other matches.
