Karrion Kross gives update on WWE contract status

During an appearance on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast, Karrion Kross gave fans an update on his WWE contract status.
Kross and his wife Scarlett’s futures have been a discussion point of late with their WWE contracts reportedly set to expire imminently. While he didn’t address rumors about whether he’s been offered a new deal or not, Kross confirmed that he was still under contract with WWE as of yesterday.
“I’m still under contract,” Kross said. “I saw a bunch of stuff online — what is today, Thursday? — I don’t know where it’s coming from and I don’t care to speak to any of it, but, I mean, all I can tell you is the only way you’re going to get the real story is when you get it from me. That’s all I can tell you.”
Kross added that everyone will find out what’s going on with him “very soon.”
“I can’t really speak to any of the legitimacy of anything that is being recently reported, but I’ll tell you right now, everyone’s going to know exactly what’s going on very soon,” he said. “Like, they’re going to know.”
Kross has built a cult following with fans over the last several months, which has led to speculation over whether his future is really in question or if WWE is using the contract situation to help build support for Kross and further the narrative that he is underutilized.
At SummerSlam last weekend, Kross competed in a loss to Sami Zayn. Kross told The Two Man Power Trip that getting to wrestle at SummerSlam was an awesome experience, especially given how much he loved the PPV as a kid. He was hoping that there was going to be a “hyperviolent” stipulation for his match against Zayn, though.
“I would have liked to have done things a little bit, how should I say, I thought that there was going to be something a lot more hyperviolent that we were going to be able to get into with me and Sami,” Kross said. “Nevertheless, I was thrilled to be there and to perform. I was really hoping that I was going to be able to, you know, get very FMW [the Japanese hardcore promotion] about it with Sami, for those who know the reference.”
Kross said he was flattered and at a loss for words when he saw Paul Heyman recently compare his momentum to the early rise of Steve Austin. Though Kross does not know what’s next for him, he would like to continue performing in WWE. Kross noted that he has a good relationship with Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
“I don’t know what happens next. All I know is I would like to be there for it, and I’d like to continue performing and doing my best and showing up and giving as much as I’m allowed to give,” Kross said. “That I can tell you for sure.”
