Kevin Nash reacts to CM Punk’s improved physique

Kevin Nash, who has been critical of CM Punk’s physique, thinks the former World Heavyweight Champion is looking better now that he has some more muscle on him.

Amid Punk’s post-WrestleMania 42 absence from WWE programming, pictures emerged on social media a few weeks back showing Punk in the gym with an improved physique. Nash reacted to those photos on the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast, speculating that Punk has figured out that athletes need to eat more than other people since they are significantly more active.

“I’ve seen some pictures of him online, like in the gym and stuff where people have taken pictures of Punk online. He looks good,” Nash said. “He got with that trainer for WrestleMania. I think he’s dialed in his training and he’s definitely dialed in his [diet]. I think what everybody finds out is we so under eat. The only way — and I guarantee you Phil was under eating, probably by a thousand calories. Like, I’ve been home and I’ve been able to eat. And though I’ve only put on four pounds, I’ve lost body [fat]. Being able to eat and being able to train is just huge.”

Nash called out Punk in December 2025 for wrestling in a T-shirt, which led to Punk poking fun at the comments a few days later during a house show match against Bronson Reed. Punk took off his T-shirt during the match only to reveal that he had another one on under it.

The latest on CM Punk’s WWE return —

There have been rumors going around about Punk’s WWE status, but Dave Meltzer reiterated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter last week that Punk’s absence from WWE television is creative-related. Punk has been off TV since the Raw after WrestleMania 42 and is expected to switch brands once he returns, moving over to SmackDown and potentially beginning a title feud with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

Punk dropped the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania before this time away.

“He’s not the first one to take downtime,” Nash said. “He’s making bank. He can take some time off.”
