Marty Jannetty reportedly has foot amputated
According to comments made by Eddy Mansfield, Marty Jannetty recently had his foot amputated.
Mansfield revealed the news during an appearance on the Monte & The Pharaoh YouTube channel on Saturday. He said that Jannetty had long-standing problems with his ankles dating back to his days in The Rockers with Shawn Michaels, but did not give a clear reason as to what led to the amputation.
“One of my dearest friends ever on the face of this earth and was a great wrestler had his foot amputated, and his name is The Rocker Marty Jannetty,” Mansfield said on the show.
The Book Pro Wrestlers social media account also wrote:
“Praying for Marty Janetty this morning who has undergone an amputation surgery on his foot that has bothered him for years. Here’s to hoping this gives him some relief and a better quality of life.”
Marty Jannetty foot amputation: Eddy Mansfield critical of WWE
During the interview released on Saturday, Mansfield was also critical of WWE for not taking care of Jannetty, saying:
“Where in the hell was the WWE to help Marty Jannetty? Hell, he made them millions of dollars and you can’t help him when he is in the biggest need of his life, fighting for his life? I don’t understand that. And that’s where I’ve had problems with promoters this whole damn time.”
The host of the show also discussed the situation, noting that Jannetty had been told some time ago that he would likely lose the foot. Mansfield said Jannetty’s problems began in a WWE ring.
“His problem has always been his ankles, and his ankles were screwed up in a WWE wrestling ring and making them a lot of money. Him and Shawn Michaels.”
He later added:
“The WWE and Shawn Michaels should have stepped in and made sure he went to the best when it all started. And give him the best medical attention and to the best doctors that money could buy. And that wasn’t done. I guarantee they’d do it for Shawn Michaels, though.”
Mansfield also stated his belief that Jannetty should be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
“He should be in the Hall of Fame. Without a shadow of a doubt, he should be. And Shawn Michaels should be the guy who’s introducing him into the Hall of Fame. How come he hadn’t done that?”
