Mickie James replacing Sasha Banks in WWE Mixed Match Challenge

Another Mixed Match Challenge season two participant has had to be replaced.

WWE posted a video with Cathy Kelley today where it was announced that Mickie James will be replacing Sasha Banks in the tournament and will be teaming with Bobby Lashley. It was noted that Banks had to step down from Mixed Match Challenge due to injury, but further details weren't provided.

James & Lashley vs. Alicia Fox & Jinder Mahal is set for next Tuesday. SmackDown's match for the episode will be Asuka & The Miz vs. Carmella & R-Truth.

Before this week's season two premiere, WWE announced that Ember Moon would be replacing Alexa Bliss due to Bliss suffering an arm injury. Moon & Braun Strowman defeated Natalya & Kevin Owens on the episode, and Charlotte Flair & AJ Styles defeated Naomi & Jimmy Uso.

Banks teamed with Finn Balor in the first season of Mixed Match Challenge. They lost to Asuka & Miz before winning a second-chance fan vote and returning in the semifinals, where they lost to Becky Lynch (who was filling in for Charlotte) & Bobby Roode.

This season of Mixed Match Challenge features a round-robin tournament with a Raw block and a SmackDown block. It will culminate at TLC on December 16.
