Report: More info emerges on Aaron Rourke being pulled from indy show

Aaron Rourke

The good thing about the WWE ID program is that it lets indy promotions book WWE talent on their shows. The bad thing is that WWE is still in charge.

News broke yesterday that WWE was pulling Evolve Champion Aaron Rourke from a Limitless Wrestling event on June 20.

a“As our wrestlers move up the ranks, this is the risk we run as an independent organization booking contracted talent,” Limitless said in a statement. “We’ll continue to take those risks to always bring the very best professional wrestling possible to Maine. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”

There had been speculation that WWE pulled Rourke from the show because Limitless had recently announced a partnership with AEW’s MyAEW streaming platform. However, a report by Fightful Select says that is not the case.

“Aaron Rourke being pulled from Limitless Wrestling is unrelated to Limitless Wrestling’s relationship with MyAEW,” the report states “It is speculated that June 20 is a WWE Evolve taping. Promoters were told by AEW that there are no restrictions on putting contracted talent from other promotions on their service.”

Rourke is just the second wrestler to hold the Evolve Championship under the WWE banner. He defeated Jackson Drake to win the title on February 20, though the match did not air until March 18.
