Naomi retains Women’s World title at WWE SummerSlam

Naomi is still the Women’s World Champion.

The opening match of Sunday’s SummerSlam saw the World Champion defeat Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY in a triple threat match. The finish of the match had Ripley plant SKY with the riptide off the middle rope. However as Ripley went for the pin, Naomi cradled Ripley from behind and grabbed the tights for the win.

Naomi’s father, Shawn McCray, played the guitar during her entrance as she made her way to the ring.

As a result of the victory, Naomi will next defend the Women’s World Championship against Stephanie Vaquer at Clash in Paris on August 31. Vaquer won the number one contender’s battle royal that took place at WWE Evolution, earning the title match.

On that same show, Naomi cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the Women’s World Championship, surprising both SKY and Ripley as they were wrestling for the title. On the following Raw, all three women argued enough for Adam Pearce to announce the three-way title match for SummerSlam.
