New number one contender for Cruiserweight title crowned during AAA on Fox
TJ Perkins is back under the WWE umbrella and has already earned a future title match.
TJP defeated Mini Vikingo, Chris Carter, and Elio LeFleur during Saturday’s taped show to earn a Cruiserweight title match against champion Laredo Kid at a future date. The finish of the match had Mini Vikingo cover Carter, but TJP launched himself off the turnbuckle and hit the mamba splash on Vikingo. He then covered Carter to earn the title match.
After the match, El Ojo (El Hijo del Vikingo, Omos, and Dorian Roldan) came to the ring. TJP bailed, buut Vikingo asked TJP to put Mini Vikingo back into the ring, and TJP obliged. Omos then proceeded to powerbomb Mini Vikingo twice as Vikingo berated him for using his name, saying he no longer had permission to use it or his moves.
Perkins is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and was with the company from 2016 through 2019. After his release he returned to New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he was a member of the United Empire stable. He and Templario dropped the New Japan Strong Tag Team titles to Angel de Oro and Niebla Roja back in November, with reports at the time saying he had finished up with NJPW.
