New WWE SmackDown segments announced

The fallout from SummerSlam will be felt on Friday’s WWE SmackDown from Montreal, Quebec, Canada with two new segments announced for the show.

Coming off his Undisputed WWE Championship loss to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, John Cena will appear live on Friday’s SmackDown. Cena was attacked by the returning Brock Lesnar in the aftermath of his loss to Rhodes. Lesnar has not yet been advertised for Friday’s show.

WWE addressed bringing Lesnar back into the fold during Monday’s Raw.

Also announced for SmackDown, the new Undisputed WWE Champion Rhodes will appear. We could learn the first challenger for Rhodes in his new title reign on the show, as he is currently without a match for the next WWE PLE — Clash in Paris on Sunday, August 31. Just one match is official for Clash in Paris, a Women’s World title match with Naomi or IYO SKY defending against Stephanie Vaquer.

The announced lineup for Friday’s SmackDown:

WWE SmackDown, Friday, August 8 —

  • John Cena appears live
  • New Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes appears live
