Number one contender for Intercontinental title set on WWE Raw
A new number one contender for the Intercontinental title is set.
Penta defeated El Grande Americano to earn a future title match on Monday’s Raw. The finish had Rayo and Bravo attempt to interfere on behalf of Americano, only for the original Americano to emerge, laying out both Americanos. The distraction allowed Penta to strike with the Mexican destroyer to score the victory, earning an Intercontinental title match against Dominik Mysterio.
Earlier on the show, the second Americano complained to Adam Pearce that he wanted something since the Original El Grande Americano got an Elimination Chamber qualifying match that will take place next week. Pearce said he wouldn’t give him anything, but would put him in a number one contender’s match later in the night against a mystery opponent.
Mysterio has held the title since last April, winning it at WrestleMania 41. John Cena defeated him for the title on the November 10 edition of Raw, but Mysterio won it back days later at Survivor Series thanks to a returning Liv Morgan.
