Happy Vengeance Day, everybody! I remember when I was but a lad and my family would gather ’round the vengeance tree and sing vengeance carols while sipping on vengeance nog. Good times.

Tonight though, it’s good times for some, severe beatings for others with two title matches, a street fight, an Underground match (which I assume involves a Hobbit hole) and one plain ol’ regular wrestling match.

So, with the traditional “Wrestler’s Arriving To Work” montage out of the way, let’s see what Vengeance Day present we’re unwrapping first!

Street Fight: Jaida Parker vs Blake Monroe

So this street fight is taking place in the arena, while the wrestling match scheduled between Tony D’Angelo and Dion Lennox is going to take place in the parking lot.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Parker came to the ring with new music, but that didn’t seem to help her as the bell range and the brawl began. Both women rolled around the ring until they ended up on the outside where they traded blows. Parker went to get a table early, but Monroe used it as a chance to get a DDT in. Parker reversed it though into a suplex.

Parker struggled to set up the table and Monroe beat her about the head and shoulders with an umbrella. Monroe grabbed some chairs and kendo sticks and tossed them into the ring. Then she put away the table, but did not fix the ring apron.

Parker got a shot in from behind, but Monroe came back with a neckbreaker. Monroe set up a chair, then used Kendo sticks to hang it on the ropes. That took too long though and Parker picked her up and slammed her through the contraption. Then she hit her with Kendo sticks and a big pump kick.

Monroe went to the outside and Parker followed, throwing her against the ring apron and the annoucne table. This table went up easier, and Parker threw Monroe into the stairs. She charged her, but Monroe moved, causing Parker to hit the steps.

Back in the ring, Monroe hit a missile dropkick and went for a cover, but Parker kicked out at two. Monroe laid in a few kendo stick hits and went to the outside to grab some garbage cans and a length of rope. Parker got to her feet though and sent Monroe to the corner. She set her up on the turnbuckle, but Monroe countered and put her in a chair assisted tree of woe.

Monroe sandwiched Parker between two chairs and nailed her with a high knee. Parker wasn’t done though and kicked out at two.

The rope, turned out to be a string of pearls and Monroe wrapped them around her fist and punched Parker in the face. Parker kicked out of the cover, but Monroe moved quick and put a crossface on her with a Kendo stick.

Parker rolled out of it and threw some Kendo shots of her own. She then hit some shoulder blocks and a blockbuster from the top rope, but Monroe rolled out of the ring to avoid the cover.

Parker went out and grabbed the Official Slim Jim Table, but that opened her up to a bunch of garbage can shots from Monroe. Monroe went under the ring and came out with a brick, but Parker unleashed on her before she could do anything with it.

Parker laid Monroe out on the Official Slim Jim Table and then dropped herself onto it, crushing Monroe and breaking the table. Parker landed a Hip-notic in the ring, but Monroe was able to kick out at two. Monroe threw a head butt and high knee, but another cover ended at two.

Monroe sent PArker into the corner and went for her mystery bag. She emptied it and it was full of diamonds. Monroe threw Parker onto the diamonds with a glamour shot and that was enough. Monroe made the pin and got the victory.

Match Result: Blake Monroe defeated Jaida Parker

-In the locker room, Ricky Saints decided to confront Ethan Page about how he didn’t help him out last week. Page said that he wasn’t there becuause he was bummed about losing the North American title. Saints said he needs his friend to help him regain the NXT championship. Page reclutantly agreed to help.

In the parking lot, Tony D’angelo arrived so:

Tony D’Angelo vs. Dion Lennox

D’Angelo came out swinging with a crowbar, but Darkstate tried to overcome him with the damn numbers game. D’Angelo threw Lennox onto a car then tossed a beer keg at him. Lennox dodged, and they brawled into the backstage area, closing the door to cut off the rest of DarkState.

They fought into the bathroom and Lennox sent D’Angelo into a catering table. D’Angelo popped back up and stomped him in the warehouse area. Then Darkstate arrived and so did a bunch of terrible security guards. A Ref showed up and begged them to head to the ring.

Lennox threw D’angelo into a locker and some road cases. D’Angelo counterd and knocked Lennox into some clanky pipes. Then he dragged him back outside and back inside. Once inside, DarkStake overwhelmed him and Lennox went to use the crowbar but OTM showed up and evened the odds.

That resulted in a brawl, while the Ref screamed about taking it to the ring. D’Angelo tossed Lennox into a wall and then the scene switched to the arena, where the two came crashing THROUGH the wall and into the ringside area.

They both climbed into the ring and the bell was rung, officially starting the match with Lennox getting whipped into the corner. He countered though and stomped D’Angelo in the corner. He charged, but D’Angelo moved and Lennox kicked the ring post.

No worries though, as he then used that foot to stomp D’Angelo against the ropes. Lennox hit a spinebuster, but D’Angelo kicked out of the cover. Lennox went for a splash, but D’Angelo moved and caught him in a suplex.

D’Angelo went for another and a third for good measure. A final German suplex sent Lennox to the mat and D’Angelo picked him up for a fifth suplex. Hey then landed a torture rack/neckbreaker before clotheslining Lennox over the top rope.

On the outside, D’Angelo smacked Lennox on the stairs and charged, but Lennox moved and D’Angelo took the brunt of the hit. Lennox then took the stairs apart, laid D’Angelo’s foot on the lower half and tried to break it with the upper half, but D’Angelo got his foot away in the nick of time.

Lennox then thew D’Angelo over the barricade into the crowd. He climbed over and suplexed D’Angelo from the front row onto the announce table, which I honestly don’t think I’ve seen before.

Back in the ring to beat the count out, Lennox hit a rope-assisted powerbomb, but D’Angelo kicked out at 2.75 of the cover. Lennox started throwing hands, but that powered D’Angelo up and he started firing back. He countered a slam a hit a spear in the middle of the ring.

D’Angelo then threw Lennox at the ground with a pop up power bomb and got the pin, 1-2-3.

Match Result: Tony D’Angelo defeated Dion Lennox

-A recap pacakge for Tatum Paxley vs Izzi Dame aired next. Dame was confident she would retain. Paxley was gothy and dramatic. Then Nico and Spears talked about wanting the Tag Titles? I dunno, it was kind of all over the place, not unlike the Culling itself.

-Lola Vice was shown getting taped up for her Underground match later in the show.

NXT Women’s North American Championship Match: Izzi Dame (c) w/ Nico & Shawn Spears vs Tatum Paxley

After a second recap package on the Paxley/Dame feud, they women made their entrances.

The bell rang and Paxley came out swinging, jumping on Dame and throwing punches. She wrapped Dame up in a sleeper, trying to put her away early. Dame shook her off and rolled out of the ring. Paxley followed, slamming her against the barricade.

Paxley hit a flipping kick off the stairs then hooked Dame up, but Dame drover her into the steps then dropped her onto the ring apron (the Damest part of the ring!). They slid back into the ring where Paxley got a slam and quick cover in, but no joy.

Paxley hit a crossbody in the corner and then an underhook sulpex on Dame. She went for Cemetary Drive, but Dame countered it. Paxley got back up though and the two collided in the center of the ring. Dame threw a knee into Paxley’s gut and sent her to the corner for a high kick.

She planted Paxley with a big boot and then kicked her while she was down, with Spears directing traffic from ringside.

Dame took over, throwing knees and lariats off the ropes, wearing Paxley down. Paxley countered into a crucifix, but couldn’t get the pin. Dame continued the midsection assault, stomping Paxley in the corner.

Dame went for an abdominal stretch, twisting Paxley in the centre of the ring. Paxley managed to counter into a stretch of her own, but Dame overpowered her with a side slam. Paxley came back with some open hand strikes, sending Dame to the corner. Dame got the knees up on Paxley’s charge though and hit a backbreaker and a senton for a two count.

Dame tried a Liontamer as Spears screarmed at her from the ring apron. Paxley held on though and kicked Dame in the gut to get out of it. Paxley rolled through into a Boston Crab, but Dame was able to get to the ropes to break it.

They moved to the outside where Paxley shoved Dame into the ringpost. They moved back into the ring to break the count and Paxley landed a superkick. Paxley threw hands on the dazed Dame, hitting a German Suplex and step up insiguri.

She hit a guillotine and went for a cover, but Dame just got her shoulder up to beat the count. Paxley went up top, but took too long and Dame joined her up there. The two threw hands on the turnbuckle, until Paxley shoved her off and went for a 450, but Dame moved. Dame then hit a dropkick and rolled to the ring apron for advice from Spears and Nico.

They got to their feet and started slugging it out in the middle of the ring. Paxley landed a superkick and then a sit out powerbomb. She went up top again and landed the 450 from the turnbuckle. She didn’t get all of it though and Dame kicked out.

Dame went to the apron and screamed for help from Spears and Nico. They didn’t have any great ideas and Paxley used the opening to leap over the ropes and powerbomb Dame to the floor from the apron, stunning everyone!

Paxley threw Dame back in the ring, but Spears stepped in front of her on the outside. She ran back to the ring just in time to beat the count and Dame slammed her, but Paxley kicked out at two. Dame went for a gutwrench, but PAxley countered. Dame shoved her to the ropes where Spears was standing.

Dame charged and Paxley ducked, causing Dame to knock Spears off the ropes. Paxley then hit a Cemetary drive and pinned Dame 1-2-3 to become the new NXT Women’s North American Champion!

Match Result: Tatum Paxley defeated Izzi Dame

-Backstage, OTM were interviewed about their part in the D’Angelo/Lennox brawl earlier. Essentially, OTM hates DarkState. So they will fight them whenever they can. They ended the promo with “it’s time to go eat!” which I’m sure was supposed to sound tough, but really just kinda sounded like they were really looking forward to catering.

-In the ring, Robert Stone called NXT Women’s Champion Jacey Jayne and Fatal Influence to the ring. Jayne grabbed a mic and called the crowd losers, saying they had to eat their words now that she’s not a “transitional” champion.

Jayne compared her position at Stand & Deliver last year (in a tag match in the kickoff show) to this year, when she will walk in as the NXT Women’s Champion, with a dominant title reign. She said she should be the Main Event of Stand & Deliver and no one should be surprised when she main event’s Wrestlemania next year.

Stone interrupted her during a rant about Sol Ruca, but before he could name the next challenger for Jayne, Zaria walked out and called Jayne delusional. Zaria said that now that Ruca is gone, she deserves another shot at that title.

Stone tried to intervene, but Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid chimed in to run down Zaria. Then (very late, mind you) Sol Ruca’s music played and the wandered out to insert herself into the conversation. Ruca said that she knows how to beat Jayne and break Zaria’s heart.

Stone finally spoke up and made a match: A week from Tuesday, Jayne, Zaria and Ruca will have a triple threat match for the NXT Women’s title.

That sparked a brawl between all five women, with Zaria taking a Sol Snatcher from Ruca before Reid laid out Ruca. Fatal Influence stood tall in the ring as the segment came to an end.

-Next, Kelani Jordan was interviewed about her Underground match against Lola Vice. Jordan gave Vice her credit, but said that she was the first woman to make Vice tap, so she should be able to beat her in the Underground.

-Backstage, Lexis King and crew approached Charlie Dempsy and said that he needs to embrace who he is and join their group. Instead, a NQCC reunion against King and Uriah was announced. I really wish I was more excited about that.

NXT Underground Match: Lola Vice vs Kelani Jordan

So fun fact about Underground matches: they aren’t under ground. They just take the ring ropes off. Kind of a bummer, but we allowed it for the Big Show’s brief flirtation with Sumo, so we can allow it for this. Actual fun fact though: only a knockout, TKO or submission can end an Underground match.

With the NXT locker room surrounding the ring, entrances were made and the fight was on.

Vice went for a takedown right off the bell, but Jordan countered. Vice got an armbar on, but Jordan turned it into a leg lock. Vice went for a triangle, but couldn’t lock it in fast enough and Jordan shrugged her off.

Vice went for a sleeper next, bringing Jordan to the mat. Jordan rolled through to get out of it and grabbed the injured hand of Vice, working the fingers. They broke it up and Vice threw some quick kicks, then used the naked ring post to smash Jordan’s hand.

Jordan cam beack though, kicking Vice int he back and then suplexing her. Jordan went back to the hand, stomping it in the center of the ring. Jordan then removed Vice’s glove, exposing her hand. Jordan dropped her knee on it then kicked her while she was down.

Jordan hit another suplex and then went back to the arm. This time though, Vice got a punch in. Jordan dragged her to the ring post and smashed her hand against it a few times. Vice blocked it and pulled Jordan into the ring post face first.

Vice started throwing punches and kicks on Jordan, getting her with a German. Vice threw strikes, kicking Jordan off the ring stage but Jordan pulled a ringside observer in the way and started jawing at Vice’s dad in the crowd.

Back in the “ring” Vice, fired up now, landed a massive back fist on Jordan and knocked her down, causing the ref to put a stop to the match via TKO.

Match Result: Lola Vice defeated Kelani Jordan via TKO

-Backstage, Jacey Jayne was lamenting that she had to have a match before Stand & Deliver. Lainey Reid told her to calm down, she will take care of Ruca next week. Jayne told her to make sure Ruca never makes it to the match.

NXT Championship Match: Joe Hendry (c) vs Ricky Saints

So, a full 25 minutes had passed since the end of the Underground match and in that we had two recap packages (for the same match), a Joe Hendry “Chronicle” and the above promo. Couple that with a fill 10 minutes of entrances and introductions and you could have fit 2 more matches onto this card.

Anyway, once the pomp and circumstance was done with and Booker T had stopped caterwauling, the match began.

Saints came out with a kick to the gut, which seemed to make Hendry mad and he came back at him with a big right hand. Saints then ran around the ring, luring Hendry into a position where he could wrap his leg in ropes.

Hendry got out of it and they moved back into the ring where Hendry shoulder tackled Saints and threw him into the corner. Hendry threw Saints to the mat and then went for a suplex. Saints countered it, but Hendry was right here and threw him through the ropes. Saints spun around and Hendry hit him with a staaaaaallllling Suplex.

Saints started a comeback with a neckbreaker and some shots to the face. Saints went for an underhook, but Hendry countered it into a neckbreaker. Saints went up top and grabbed a wristlock so he could walk the ropes. Hendry used that to pull him down on them and send him out of the ring.

Hendry went to the outside, but Saints threw him into the stairs. They moved back into the ring and Saints went for a cover, but Hendry kicked out. Saints went back to the neckbreaker, but only got a two count.

Saints grabbed a headlock and tried to wear Hendry down, but he got to his feet and headbutted his way out of it. Saints wasn’t done though and hit him with a back elbow. Saints got Hendry in the corner for some punches and a choke, sending Hendry back to the outside.

Saints axehandled him from the apron and then banged his head on the announce table that was somehow now fixed. He pulled Hendry back into the ring and hit a back body suplex for a two count. Saints tried a quick rollup, but no dice.

Saints dropkicked Hendry in the corner and gave him a knee to the side of the head. He scopped Hendry up for a back body drop and made the poses. Hendry came back hard off of that and laid Saints out with some right hands. He hit him with a fallaway slam and then did his turning around thing.

Saints came back with an elbow and tried a headscissor, but Hendry countered and slammed him in the middle of the ring. The two traded blows until Saints tried a backslide into a air raid crash. Saints locked on a crossface, but Hendry rolled through. Saints didn’t let go and transitioned it into a front facelock sleeper.

The ref checked him, but Hendry didn’t pass out and managed to stand up and counter the hold into a suplex. Hendry caught a superkick from Saints, but dodged the next move. Hendry hit an AA but it wasn’t enough and Saints kicked out at two.

Hendry went up top and hit a massive fallaway slam on Saints, but again only a two count. Hendry went for a standing ovation, but Saints countered with a DDT for a two count of his own.

At that point, Ethan Page wandered down to ringside. He picked up the NXT Title belt and walked towards the ring, but that just allowed Hendry to try and pin him off the distraction. Saints hit a bit spear and THEN Page threw the belt into the ring. The ref got rid of it, but that gave Saints the chance to kick Hendry in the We Believe’s and hit a Revolution DDT to try and steal the title. Hendry kicked out at two though.

Saints went wild but Hendry tried another Standing Ovation, inadvertently hitting the ref. That gave Hendry and opening to kick Ricky in the Saints and nail a standing ovation. He grabbed the pin and the ref counted to three, giving Hendry the win.

Match Result: Joe Hendry defeated Ricky Saints

I’ll say this, the matches on this show were top notch, but the amount of backstage and interview segments that were not necessary was unbelievable.
