Oba Femi calls WWE NXT his version of the ‘indies’
Oba Femi has opened up and reflected on his time growing as a wrestler in WWE NXT.
Scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at WWE WrestleMania 42, Femi made his main roster debut earlier this year in 2026. After a lengthy spell in NXT from 2021 to 2026, Femi made his way to RAW and SmackDown.
Speaking to Cameron Hawkins of Uncrowned, Femi reflected on his time in NXT and expressed gratitude for what he learned during his time there.
“(It) was time. You know when you’ve done everything you can do for a company, you know when you’ve done everything you can do for a brand, a relationship, a friendship. You know when you’ve done everything, and you’ve tried your best, and you’ve put your all, and it’s time for you to move on to the next thing, and that’s just where I found myself when I had the NXT Championship,” he said.
Calling NXT his version of the “indies,” Femi claimed, “I’d done everything there was to do. I’m grateful for my time in NXT, of course. That was my indies. I appreciate everything I went through there.”
Since his arrival on the main roster, Femi has yet to lose a singles match. During his NXT run, Femi achieved multiple accolades, including two NXT Championship reigns, one NXT North American Championship reign, the 2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament, and the 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge.
