Oba Femi on being a champion in WWE: ‘I think the odds are very high’
Enjoying one of the highest moments of his career right now, Oba Femi recently opened up on the chances of him winning a championship in WWE.
Speaking to SHAK Wrestling, Femi addressed him potentially winning a main roster championship while still in his 20s.
“I think the odds are very high. They’re stacked in my favor. Like, I said, I’m young, I’m spry, I’m ready to go. I’m hungry — hungrier than a lot of these 47-year-olds, I’ll tell you that,” Femi said. “So I think we’re going to see that happen very soon, because it’s not just me. It’s me, it’s Bron [Breakker], it’s Dominik [Mysterio]. There’s so much going on right now when it comes to the young talent.”
While he has not won a title on the main roster, Femi is a former NXT and NXT North American Champion.
He also claimed, “Well, it’s very good because at the end of the day, those older guys are doing their thing — they’re killing it — but at the same time, Father Time always wins. A lot of them are 44, 45, 46. They’re on their way out. They have one foot out the door.
So this is the time for someone like ‘The Ruler’ to come in, take their place, and fulfill that destiny. I’ve built trust with them. I’ve built equity in NXT with everything I did with the NXT Championship — all those classic matches I had. I feel like when they’ve seen the body of work, they’re like, ‘Okay, we have something here.’ So I think it’s good that they’re putting that trust in me because I think it’s well deserved.”
Femi, 27, recently answered 48-year-old Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania 42 open challenge earlier this week on RAW and attacked him. Although a match between the two has not been finalized yet.
