Oba Femi still figuring out what type of WWE wrestler he wants to be

As he joins the WWE main roster, Oba Femi is still figuring out what type of wrestler he wants to be.

Femi appeared on No-Contest Wrestling this week and credited John Cena for helping him become so business savvy early in his career. When it comes to his in-ring work, Femi is still figuring out what kind of legacy he wants to leave. He could be a dominant Brock Lesnar type of wrestler or someone who is more focused on story-driven work.

“It’s because of guys like John, you know, going out there and talking about these things. Now I don’t have to go through all that hard process that he went through,” Femi said. “So I’m grateful for stuff like that, having those people who have done it in my life. That’s what it comes down to.

“I don’t know if I’m going to have exactly like a John Cena-type run. I’m still in the process of even finding out what kind of run I even want to have. You know, there’s the strong, dominant Brock Lesnar type. And then there’s the story-driven runs like The Bloodline stuff. I don’t know what my legacy will be yet. But at least I know what’s right. So with that, going forward, we’ll see where the winds take us.”

One aspect Femi is figuring out is how vocal he wants to be. In NXT, he was more silent and stoic. He’s now made the personal decision to start talking a little bit more trash to his opponents.

While he’s honored to have the support of legends like Cena, Femi thinks it’s important to start viewing other WWE stars as his peers instead of idols.

“That fandom stuff has to go,” Femi said. “The guys who dwell on that stuff, I don’t think they do particularly well, if you ask me. The second you start to see these guys as your rivals, the better for you.”

Femi has not officially been assigned to a WWE brand yet but could be headed to the Raw roster as he’s started a feud with Rusev on the show.
