Pat McAfee calling last WWE Raw ‘for a while’

With college football season about to kick off, Pat McAfee will be taking a break from his WWE role.

McAfee made a post on his Instagram stories today announcing that tonight will be the last WWE Raw episode he calls “for a while.” Since 2022, McAfee has been a panelist on ESPN’s College GameDay. He announced last month that he would be returning to GameDay for this upcoming season.

“All right, last Monday Night Raw Monday for a bit,” McAfee said. “Very bummed out that tonight will be my last trip to that wonderful WWE family for a while. All right, let’s have a day. I’m bummed out. Football season is starting, which is awesome. But the WWE family is where I’m supposed to be. And I know that, and I hope they do too.”

The first College GameDay episode of the season takes place live from Ireland this Saturday.

McAfee — a sports media superstar and former NFL player — is currently part of the WWE Raw commentary team alongside Michael Cole.

On September 2, ESPN/ABC broadcaster Joe Tessitore will debut as the new play-by-play voice of Raw and Cole will move over to SmackDown. Cole will then be back on Raw and Tessitore will move to SmackDown when Raw premieres on Netflix in January 2025.

January is also when college football season ends.
