Randy Orton hoping for ‘at least one more’ WWE World title

Winning at least one more World Championship is a huge goal for Randy Orton.

This Saturday, Orton will compete in an Elimination Chamber match to determine Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship challenger for WrestleMania 42. Orton appeared on ESPN’s Get Up today to promote the PLE and addressed how much it would mean to him to hold the World Championship again.

“That’d be huge. I think right now, you’ve got Triple H and myself tied at 14 [reigns]. John Cena, of course, just retired with 17 World Championships. You’ve got Ric Flair, I think, at 16,” Orton said. “I’d love to get one more, at least one more. It would mean the world to me. I’ve been around now 26 years, I’ve been doing this for well more than half my life. I’m a third-generation wrestler… This is my life. This is everything to me. So to be able to be World Champion again would mean the world.”

Orton, Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, and either Bronson Reed, Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable), or Jey Uso will be the men’s Elimination Chamber match participants. During the Get Up interview, Orton said he is especially looking forward to mixing it up with Evans and Williams given that they are younger talent and the future of WWE.

The 45-year-old Orton signed a new five-year contract with WWE in 2024. He told Get Up that he’s enjoying every second of what he’s doing in WWE right now.

Chicago’s United Center is hosting the Elimination Chamber PLE on Saturday. It has a start time of 7 p.m. Eastern, airing live on the ESPN app in the United States and on Netflix elsewhere.
