Report: Brian Kendrick waiting to be granted release from WWE

Brian Kendrick has reportedly requested his release from WWE and is waiting to have the request granted.

PWInsider reported today that Kendrick requested his release from WWE weeks ago. It was noted that Kendrick hasn’t been at recent NXT/205 Live shows after requesting his release.

It was announced last month that Kendrick would be returning to the ring to face Harland on the December 28 episode of NXT, but the match never happened. The match was set up by an angle where Harland attacked Kendrick and threw him down a flight of stairs.

In a video uploaded by WWE in March of last year, it was revealed that Kendrick had transitioned from an in-ring competitor to being a producer for NXT/205 Live.

The 42-year-old Kendrick hasn’t wrestled since October 2020.

Kendrick was part of the relaunch of WWE’s cruiserweight division in 2016 after taking part in the Cruiserweight Classic.

Mustafa Ali announced earlier this month that he had requested his release from WWE, but WWE isn’t planning on releasing him.
