Report: Details on when John Cena agreed to host WWE WrestleMania 42
An update is available regarding when plans were made for John Cena to host WWE WrestleMania 42.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported Thursday that there were no plans for Cena to host WrestleMania at the time of his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025. According to the report, Cena was informed of the plans in February and agreed at that time.
WWE reportedly made the decision to have Cena host WrestleMania in an effort to increase ticket sales for the event.
The report also states that Cena has signed a new long-term deal with WWE that does not include him performing as an in-ring talent.
Cena announced that he would be hosting this year’s WrestleMania in a video posted to social media on March 30.
Cena is currently filming a comedy movie titled One Attempt Remaining in Los Angeles. The film is directed by Kay Cannon and also stars Kate McKinnon, Jennifer Garner, and Amy Carrero.
