Update on Jacob Fatu injury

  • Ian Carey

An injury update is available for Jacob Fatu.

Fatu was scheduled to wrestle Drew McIntyre on WWE SmackDown in San Jose last night but appeared to be written off television with an injury angle. Fatu was shown lying on the ground in a pool of blood backstage just before the main event was set to take place.

Our own Bryan Alvarez is reporting that within WWE the belief is that Fatu will be cleared to return by December.

As for the nature of Fatu’s injury, according to a report from PWInsider, Fatu is not medically cleared to compete because of a recent dental procedure.

Alvarez and PWInsider’s reports conflicts with a report from Bodyslam.net on Friday that stated Fatu is expected to miss an extended period and his absence could extend “well into 2026.”

Dave Meltzer addressed what he’s heard regarding Fatu’s situation in Friday’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, mentioning that reports about him being out until 2026 were unconfirmed.

“There are reports that have not been confirmed to us by anyone in WWE of an out of the ring injury to Fatu that could keep him out of action until 2026.
