Rey Mysterio hoping Mexico hosts WWE PLE within next three years

The legendary Rey Mysterio is hoping that he’ll get to wrestle at a WWE premium live event in Mexico one day.

As part of a new strategy for the company, WWE is holding an increasing amount of PLEs in international markets. Australia and France have already had events this year, and WWE has upcoming stops in Scotland, Canada, and Germany. That’s in addition to the two WWE PLEs that take place from Saudi Arabia every year.

In an interview with Bleacher Report, Mysterio was asked about the possibility of Mexico hosting its first-ever PLE. Mysterio said he’s hoping that it happens within the next three years.

“I’m hoping that it happens within the next three years. I think my people deserve something as good as a PLE,” Mysterio said. “I’m truly hoping. We have a huge stadium over there, Estadio Azteca, which I believe is being remodeled and should be done sometime next year. I think the fans would go crazy. Crazy. Mexico has always been an incredible crowd for wrestling, and what better than to pay it off with WWE coming over there and giving them something as special as a PLE?”

WWE has a pair of house shows taking place in Mexico this July. Mysterio is advertised for the events.

The 49-year-old Mysterio and his LWO faction are members of the Raw roster in WWE. After defeating Carlito earlier this week, Mysterio was beaten down by Damian Priest, setting up a Mysterio vs. Priest match for Raw this Monday (June 3).
