Rey Mysterio gives update on daughter Aalyah’s wrestling future

Aalyah Mysterio could be following her father and brother’s footsteps into WWE.

Last year, Aalyah spent a day at the WWE Performance Center with her father and also participated in a training session at Natalya and Tyson Kidd’s Dungeon. Aalyah had been expressing interest in what it would feel like to get into the ring, but Rey Mysterio would not bring her to the Performance Center until she graduated from college. He did not expect that she would enjoy the experience, but Aalyah had fun and showed an instant connection with positioning and hitting the ropes.

Rey said on “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” that the next step for Aalyah will be going through a full week of training. If that goes well, Aalyah could decide to pursue a full-time wrestling career.

“So I said, ‘Okay, the next step would be, let’s see if you can go through a full week of training. And if you can do that and you like it afterwards, then maybe it’s something you might want to think about.’ I’m actually trying to get her out there pretty soon so she can just feel what it’s like to train every day,” Rey said. “Wake up, work out all day, sleep, back, same thing, That’s insane. Like, I’ve thought about that and it scares me, but it also excites me.”

Aalyah already has some WWE experience through being featured as an on-screen character in 2020, where she had a romance storyline with Buddy Murphy. Rey did not think Aalyah would become a wrestler, but she’s been showing interest in the possibility over the past couple of years. She graduated from the University of California San Diego last year with a degree in human biology.

Rey’s son Dominik debuted for WWE in 2020 and is a double champion at the moment, holding the Intercontinental Championship and AAA Mega Championship.
