Roman Reigns defeats Cody Rhodes at WWE WrestleMania 39

The most dominant WWE championship reign of the modern era is still ongoing.

Roman Reigns left fans in Los Angeles shocked as he retained the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39 night two. The finish of the match involved interference by Solo Sikoa.

Sikoa had been ejected from ringside for interfering earlier in the match. But with the referee distracted by Paul Heyman, Sikoa reemerged as Rhodes was on the verge of winning. He gave Rhodes a Samoan Spike, which allowed Reigns to then hit a spear on Rhodes to get the victory.

WrestleMania went off the air with Reigns, Sikoa, and Heyman celebrating and pyro going off.

The Reigns vs. Rhodes match also included involvement by The Usos, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn. When The Usos attacked Rhodes during a ref bump, Owens and Zayn ran in to fight them off. Owens and Zayn also gave Reigns a stunner and a Helluva Kick.

Owens & Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles from The Usos in the main event of WrestleMania 39 night one on Saturday.

Before Reigns vs. Rhodes began, Rhodes’ wife Brandi, his daughter Liberty, his mother Michelle, his sister Teil, and Brodie Lee Jr. (the son of the late Jon Huber) were shown in the front row before the match. As Rhodes interacted with them, he gave a weight belt to Brodie.

Reigns’ victory means his title reign may end up reaching the 1,000-day mark. It’s currently at 946 days.
