Roman Reigns reveals choice for WWE WrestleMania 42

The World Heavyweight title match for WrestleMania 42 is official.

Roman Reigns on Monday officially chose CM Punk as his opponent for WrestleMania 42, which takes place on April 18 and 19. Roman’s choice followed a war of words between the two that quickly grew personal.

Reigns’ decision became the focal point of the main event segment of Monday’s Raw, with this year’s Royal Rumble winner coming out and asking the fans who he should choose. CM Punk came out and first called out Finn Balor, which angered Reigns. The two traded barbs, with Punk accusing Reigns of being a part-timer while Reigns knocked Punk for taking “a ten year vacation.” Reigns refuted the idea that he followed Punk’s lead, as he said Punk was an example of everything not to do. He accused Punk of making his life harder after appearing on his friend’s (Colt Cabana’s) podcast, took his wiseman, and brainwashed his cousins and even almost brainwashed him, as they shook hands at Survivor Series only for Punk to mock him on the way to the back.

In the end, Reigns told Punk that he could choose Punk because he’s on Netflix and is the top star, but it runs deeper than that. Reigns told Punk that he hated him, and WrestleMania would be the best day of his life because Punk will acknowledge him.

Reigns won the Royal Rumble on Saturday, last eliminating Gunther. Liv Morgan won the women’s Royal Rumble, but on Monday said she would go to SmackDown to get a better idea of who she’ll choose.
