Roman Reigns: WWE is still evolving, not in ‘final form’ yet

Even with all the business success WWE is having at the moment, Roman Reigns believes there is more room to grow.
Reigns was a guest on ESPN’s First Take today, promoting the new partnership WWE and ESPN have formed. Per the deal, WWE PLEs will move away from Peacock in 2026 and will begin airing on ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer streaming service.
The hosts of First Take asked Reigns what fans can expect from this partnership. He responded by stressing that WWE is always evolving and looking to get better.
“We’re just continually trying to get better. We don’t think we’re in our final form at all,” Reigns said. “And it’s entertainment, so it’s just always evolving, it’s ever-changing. But that’s the type of pressure we like to put on ourselves. To be able to team up with an ESPN, we know we have to get better, we know we have to get bigger, we know we’re going to be reaching a bigger audience. So I think that’s just — without being said — we’re going to make it bigger.”
Reigns said he believes WWE already has the ingredients to reach the next level, but you have to be patient and allow that growth to happen organically.
“I think we have the ingredients, but — like I said before — as entertainment changes, as the newer generations come up and start taking over, I think that type of stuff happens in real time,” he said. “That’s the one thing that you have to be, is you have to be authentic and organic about it. And if you try to just hammer that nail in, it’s going to end up crooked and not in the right place. So sometimes you just got to let it sink in the way it’s going to.
“There’s a lot of things that are going to happen in the next couple of years that we’re not quite sure, but we know we need to stay slightly ahead of the curve. Not too far out but just enough to know what’s happening to make that topical thing. Whatever’s happening in six months, we need to be smart enough and flexible enough to be able to move with it.”
Paul “Triple H” Levesque also made an appearance on ESPN today, saying that WWE PLEs will be “more of a spectacle than ever before” on ESPN.
At SummerSlam this past weekend, Reigns & Jey Uso teamed up to defeat Bronson Reed & Bron Breakker. But Reigns, CM Punk & LA Knight were then laid out by The Vision on Monday night’s Raw. Reigns has another WWE appearance coming up soon with him confirmed for Raw in Philadelphia on August 18.
