Sasha Banks wins WWE Raw Women’s title

Sasha Banks is officially the new Raw Women’s Champion.

In a rematch from Extreme Rules, Banks defeated Asuka on Raw tonight to win the Raw Women’s Championship. The stipulation was that the title could change hands via pinfall, submission, countout, disqualification, or if anyone interfered. Banks won by countout after it was shown on the video screen that Bayley was beating down Kairi Sane backstage.

Asuka went to put Banks in the Asuka Lock but couldn’t focus because of Bayley attacking Sane. When Sane yelled out for Asuka, Asuka went to the back to help her. The referee counted to 10 and Bayley ran away when Asuka approached. Banks and Bayley then celebrated with their title belts in the ring.

Asuka and Banks’ match at Extreme Rules ended with Banks leaving with Asuka’s title belt after Bayley counted the pin. Stephanie McMahon appeared on Raw via video last week and declared that Banks didn’t win the match — but she said that Asuka didn’t win either. McMahon then announced their rematch for tonight.

Banks and Bayley are both now double champions. Banks holds the Raw Women’s Championship, Bayley is SmackDown Women’s Champion, and they hold the Women’s Tag Team titles together.
