Shane McMahon to crown new tag champs on WWE SmackDown

WWE is hyping that new SmackDown Tag Team Champions will be crowned on Tuesday night.

WWE.com announced today that Shane McMahon will crown new SmackDown Tag Team Champions on Tuesday’s episode: “With the state of both the blue brand’s tag team division and the titles in question, Shane McMahon will arrive on SmackDown LIVE this Tuesday to crown new SmackDown Tag Team Champions. What will Shane-O-Mac decree? Find out this Tuesday night.”

The Hardys vacated the SmackDown Tag Team titles this week due to Jeff Hardy having to undergo knee surgery. Jeff said he needed his whole right knee repaired and would be out of action for six to nine months.

After undergoing surgery, Jeff posted a video on Thursday night and said “let the healing begin.”

Shane will face The Miz in a steel cage match at Money in the Bank on May 19. He’s also been aligned with Elias in a program against Roman Reigns, with Elias vs. Reigns set for Money in the Bank.

On SmackDown this week, Shane made a match where Reigns faced The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas). Elias was a special guest referee/enforcer for the match. Elias went to hit Reigns with a guitar, Reigns gave him a Superman punch, and the other referee counted the pin when Reigns speared Axel.
