Special two-hour episode of WWE NXT set for next week

Next week’s episode of NXT television will be longer than usual.

WWE.com notes that next week’s NXT will be a “special two-hour edition” of the show. The episode is airing on the WWE Network from 8-10 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, January 2.

The episode will feature WWE revealing the nominees for NXT’s year-end awards. If WWE sticks to their usual schedule, the winners of the awards will be revealed on the NXT TakeOver: Phoenix pre-show on Saturday, January 26.

Matt Riddle vs. Kassius Ohno is also set to air on next week’s NXT TV. That’s a rematch from TakeOver: WarGames II, where Riddle faced Ohno in a match that wasn’t announced in advance. The finish was Riddle winning within seconds. Ohno also attacked Riddle in an angle on the December 5 episode of NXT after Riddle had faced Punishment Martinez.

The first NXT tapings of 2019 will take place at Full Sail University on Thursday, January 3.
