Stephanie Vaquer explains why she missed September 8 WWE Raw
Stephanie Vaquer has not been feeling 100 percent recently.
Vaquer missed the September 8 episode of WWE Raw where she had been scheduled for a contract signing segment with IYO SKY for their match at Wrestlepalooza. However, she returned the following week and wrestled on both Raw and SmackDown.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Vaquer explained that she missed the show due to illness.
“To be honest, the last three weeks I was no good. I was sick. My body [does] not feel like a hundred percent,” Vaquer said on Friday. “I feel a little weak. I could not train really good the last month, but when I [was] back last Monday, I really feel the people and I really feel everything and really forget everything about that.”
Vaquer’s title win on Saturday comes just 14 months after signing with WWE. She signed with WWE on July 10, 2024, and debuted three days later at a live event in Mexico City. She had wrestled Mercedes Moné at Forbidden Door on June 30, 2024. Later that year, Vaquer said that joining WWE was her dream and that factored heavily into her decision to sign. After Wrestlepalooza, she mentioned having achieved a lifelong dream.
“They call us dreamers, but we’re the ones who don’t sleep,” Vaquer posted to social media. “I dreamed of this my whole life. Today I become the WWE World Champion, the first Latin American woman to achieve it. Thank you to everyone who has believed in me.”
