Steve Austin/Kevin Owens confrontation to main event WWE WrestleMania 38 night one

The KO Show segment between Kevin Owens and WWE icon Steve Austin will main event night one of WWE Wrestlemania 38 this Saturday in Dallas, Texas.

Owens said as much again on Monday’s WWE Raw during a promo segment. Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that he had previously heard that was the plan.

The other leading option was the WWE SmackDown Women’s title match between champion Charlotte Flair and challenger Ronda Rousey. Meltzer speculated that if the Austin segment wasn’t last, some fans might leave afterward.

While originally thought to be Austin’s first match in nearly 20 years, the expectation for the KO Show segment is physicality and a brawl of some sort between the two. Austin is said to look in tremendous shape, but with not having been in the ring in nearly two decades, it’s unclear what the direction will be Saturday.

Owens has been running down Texas and then Austin personally for weeks on Raw with Austin eventually accepting Owens’ invite to be on his interview segment at WrestleMania.

Austin has not physically appeared on Raw to be part of the build.
