Teddy Long says WWE needs Vince McMahon’s return to ‘get the fans back on board’
Teddy Long says that if he were to return to WWE television, he would hope it would happen “under the whims” of Vince McMahon.
The WWE Hall of Famer spoke to TMZ Sports for an interview released on Thursday. Long noted that he’s under a WWE Legends deal and said that if the company were to call him about returning to work, he would hope McMahon would be involved.
Long said:
“I think what we got to do, we got to get Vince back so we can do this thing right and get the fans back on board.”
Long was asked if he believes the “chapter is closed” on McMahon possibly returning to WWE and answered:
“I don’t think the chapter has ever closed with him. I think Vince, the way that I, like I said, I don’t know what happened or any of that stuff, but to me, in my knowing him, this was his life. He loved this. This was his life. I had a chance to ride on the plane with him and one night we was on the plane and as soon as we took off, he talked about wrestling until we landed.”
After discussing his WWE Legends deal, Long noted that if WWE calls him, he hopes that McMahon will be involved.
“I have that Legends deal, so if they call me, I have to go to work.”
“I’ll do what I’m told, you know, what I have to do. But if I had to go back, I wish it would be under the whims of Vince McMahon.”
Long also discussed attending McMahon’s 80th birthday party and showed off a statue of McMahon’s head that he was given at the event. His full interview with TMZ Sports is available below.
