VIDEO: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson opens Super Bowl LVI

A WWE-Peacock commercial also aired during the first half of the game.

The Rock kicked off this year’s Super Bowl LVI event with a promo harkening back to his WWE days.

The video, which can be seen below, had The Rock opening the show by putting over both teams competing in this year’s Super Bowl: the AFC Champions, the Cincinnati Bengals, and the NFC Champions, the LA Rams. Rock used his WWE catchphrases during the promo, saying the Super Bowl has come back to Los Angeles.

Commercials for WWE on Peacock aired during the Super Bowl kickoff show, as well as during the first half of the game. The commercial featured footage from both the past and present, hyping WrestleMania season using a variety of words ending with “stupendous”, a word WWE has incorporated in their WrestleMania 38 advertising.

This year’s WrestleMania will be held on April 2 and 3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Next year, the event will be held in the venue of tonight's Super Bowl, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
