The Rock thanks Gallus for helping prepare him for WWE WrestleMania 40

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is thankful to have had Gallus’ help in preparing him for his in-ring return at WrestleMania 40.

Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) worked training sessions with The Rock before he returned to the ring at WrestleMania 40, wrestling his first real match in more than a decade. The Rock teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins at night one of the event.

This Thursday, Gallus shared a photo from one of their sessions with The Rock. He responded by thanking them for their hard work.

Before WrestleMania, ESPN wrote that Gallus were simulating matches with The Rock to help prepare him for his return:

WWE worked with Johnson’s team to rent warehouses as training facilities. One of the rings the WWE shipped was set up in Los Angeles, where Johnson resides. There, he simulated matches alongside NXT’s Gallus — the Scottish trio that consists of Wolfgang along with real-life brothers Mark and Joe Coffey.

Since Johnson is competing in a tag-team match, he needed three wrestlers to push through in-ring sequences and hone his timing. Michael ‘P.S.’ Hayes, a WWE Hall of Famer as part of the Freebirds and a longtime match producer for WWE, supervised those training sessions along with Bobby Roode, a former NXT, U.S., and WWE tag-team champion who is now working as a producer. Veteran referee Chad Patton officiated those sessions while WWE medical oversaw the rehearsals to make sure it was run safely.

The Rock pinned Rhodes at WrestleMania, setting up a future match between the two. Rhodes became Undisputed WWE Universal Champion by defeating Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40 night two.

Mark Coffey & Wolfgang are former NXT Tag Team Champions and NXT UK Tag Team Champions.

Gallus’ most recent televised NXT match took place this February. Mark Coffey & Wolfgang have also worked two matches on WWE Main Event since then.
