Title match announced for WWE SmackDown

WWE has announced a new title match and a new segment for the Friday, October 17 SmackDown episode from San Jose, California.
On-screen GM Nick Aldis revealed in a social media post that WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss will defend their titles on Friday’s episode against Sol Ruca and Zaria from NXT. Ruca and Zaria defeated Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre in a de facto number one contender’s match on SmackDown two weeks ago and challenged the champs.
Aldis also announced that WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will speak on Friday’s SmackDown in a follow-up to Rhodes losing to Seth Rollins at the Crown Jewel PLE last weekend. Aldis suggested that Rhodes may also address the angle from Monday’s Raw where The Vision attacked Rollins.
Previously announced for the show is a Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu singles match. That match is still being advertised in spite of a report Thursday that Fatu could be sidelined into next year due to injury. The match could be used as an angle to write Fatu out of storylines while he recovers.
