Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes non-title match set for next WWE SmackDown

Carmelo Hayes makes his case to Trick Williams

A non-title match will take place on the next episode of WWE SmackDown.

After the two argued back and forth on Friday’s show, a match between United States Champion Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes was set for next week’s SmackDown, which will take place in Oklahoma City. However, Williams’ manager Lil Yachty made it perfectly clear that the title wouldn’t be on the line.

Williams and Lil Yachty came to the ring on Friday but were immediately cut off by Hayes, who said Williams was unstoppable, but only because he hasn’t stopped him yet. He called the United States title the workhorse title for those who are hungry and asked for a title match.

Lil Yachty asked the crowd if they should give Hayes a title shot. He ultimately agreed to a match next week, but it would be non-title as Hayes blew his last opportunity. Yachty said after next week, there would be no more excuses as to why Hayes can’t get the job done.

Williams and Yachty started to make their exit but Hayes ended up wiping both out with a dive, ending the segment.

Hayes lost to Ricky Saints in a recent number one contender’s match. Saints went on to challenge Williams at Clash of Champions but ended up losing.
