United States title match added to WWE SmackDown

A championship match is set to take place on WWE SmackDown tonight.

WWE has announced that the United States title will be up for grabs on SmackDown with LA Knight defending against Santos Escobar. The episode is being held in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Delta Center.

Knight held a U.S. title open challenge last Friday that ended up being answered by Berto of Legado Del Fantasma. Despite a pre-match attack, Knight defeated Berto to remain champion. Escobar cut a promo today claiming that he was going to answer Knight’s challenge last week, but he looked into Knight’s eyes and could see he was afraid of facing him.

Escobar promised to become the new United States Champion.

Knight has held the U.S. title since August and has already made one successful title defense against Escobar during his reign.

Also added to tonight’s show is a tag match with Bayley & Naomi facing Tiffany Stratton & Candice LeRae.

Here’s the updated lineup:

WWE SmackDown (Friday, November 22) —

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes & Kevin Owens go face-to-face
  • United States Champion LA Knight defends against Santos Escobar
  • Women’s United States title tournament first-round match: Bianca Belair vs. Chelsea Green vs. Blair Davenport
