United States title match official for WWE SmackDown

This Friday night, Carmelo Hayes will attempt to win his first championship on the WWE main roster.

WWE has confirmed that LA Knight vs. Hayes for the United States title will take place on this week’s episode of SmackDown. The show is being held at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

Hayes is coming off a victory over AJ Styles on SmackDown last Friday. Before the match, Knight told Hayes that he would give him a title shot if he was able to beat Styles. The match ended with Hayes technically winning by referee stoppage after Styles was unable to continue due to injury. Knight then laid out Hayes as he was being announced as the winner.

In addition to going after the U.S. title, Hayes has been involved in a program with Andrade on SmackDown. They’re tied at 3-3 with a seventh match to decide their feud likely on the horizon.

Here’s the updated SmackDown lineup for this week:

WWE SmackDown (Friday, October 11) —

  • Roman Reigns speaks
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill defend against NXT’s Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson
  • United States Champion LA Knight defends against Carmelo Hayes
