United States title rematch set for WWE SmackDown

After losing the title within seconds at Extreme Rules, Jeff Hardy will get his rematch for the United States Championship on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown.

The story of tonight’s match was that Shinsuke Nakamura hit Hardy with a low blow before the bell even rang. Hardy insisted that the referee start the match despite the low blow, and Nakamura immediately hit the Kinshasa to win the title.

Randy Orton then returned to WWE television, making his first appearance since undergoing surgery in May to repair a medial meniscus tear in his left knee. Nakamura left the ring, had a staredown with Orton, and Orton took Hardy down and kicked him for a low blow.

Later in the pay-per-view, Nakamura and Hardy’s rematch was confirmed for SmackDown. That was after a brief storyline where it was noted that Hardy requested the match but WWE said Paige had yet to make it official.
