Update on Enzo & Big Cass potentially returning to WWE | Exclusive

Enzo and Big Cass WWE

Dave Meltzer addressed Enzo Amore and Big Cass’ potential return to WWE in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Last month, reports surfaced that Amore and Cass would be reuniting in WWE, where they were a popular tag team from 2013 to 2017.

In the July 6, 2026 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer noted that there had been plans for Big Bill to leave The Learning Tree and work a program that “would have been his biggest spotlight,” but it never materialized following Chris Jericho going on hiatus.

Meltzer wrote:

“William Morrissey (Big Bill/Big Cass), who turns 40 next month, looks to be headed in (to WWE). He gave notice in AEW. AEW hadn’t used him much since they abandoned the Learning Tree act when Chris Jericho went on hiatus. While there has been criticism of him in that act hurting him, the reality is he was never more over in AEW than in his role in that act. They were building up the idea of a turn and feud which would have been his biggest spotlight, but it never materialized.”

Meltzer later added:

“At first (Enzo & Big Cass) will work out of the nostalgia and Cass is also so much better than he was in his WWE days. Enzo was never much in the ring but Danhausen getting over probably opened the door for a guy who is marginal in the ring but is a unique talker, and Enzo also was a (merch) mover in his day.”

Enzo and Cass first began teaming together in the summer of 2013 in NXT. The team split in 2017 and feuded against each other on the main roster. Enzo was later released by WWE in January 2018, while Cass was released that June.
