Update on Jalen Brunson’s status for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

WWE reportedly had plans in mind for Jalen Brunson at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event.

According to a report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select on Thursday, multiple members of the NBA champion New York Knicks are expected to be in attendance for the July 18 show at Madison Square Garden.

The report notes that WWE had looked at several creative pitches that would have involved Danhausen and Brunson. However, those plans were said to have been “shelved” after it was revealed that Brunson needed wrist surgery, ruling out any physical involvement.

The report notes that WWE is hopeful Brunson will still be in attendance for the show and make an on-screen appearance.

Brunson underwent surgery earlier this week. He is expected to be able to resume basketball activities later this summer and return in time for the 2026-27 NBA season.

Danhausen and the New York Knicks at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Shortly after the Knicks won the NBA championship last month, Bryan Alvarez wrote to subscribers on X that WWE cameras were at the team’s championship parade.

Alvarez wrote that the footage could potentially be used for a Knicks-Danhausen documentary. He also noted that WWE had already confirmed one member of the team would be at Saturday Night’s Main Event and was working to secure others.

“At least one Knick is confirmed for SNME. They’re trying to get several more, plus their coach,” Alvarez wrote. “WWE has already launched the Knicks/Danhausen championship merch on WWEShop. Danhausen is also going to be on ESPN Sunday or Monday at the earliest.”
