The USA vs Belgium game that was up against this week’s WWE RAW did a huge number on television, with NBCSports reporting that it was 42 million in the United States alone.

The site reported the following: “Preliminary numbers reported by Fox and Telemundo reveal a total audience, on average, of 42 million, with 30 million watching the English-language broadcast on Fox and 12 million watching the Spanish-language version on Telemundo and Peacock.

You can read more about the numbers from WWE RAW this week from Dave Meltzer’s Weekly Insights post (subscription needed). Suffice to say that the number took a major hit up against one of the biggest matches in the World Cup Round of 16.

There are now no World Cup games scheduled to go head to head with WWE RAW programming, with only the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final taking place on Sunday, July 12th from Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.

The USMNT, Canada and Mexico all being knocked out will help any shows going up against the World Cup, although there are still some major names like Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe still in the tournament, so viewership domestically will still be high, but likely not as high as having a host nation still in the competition.
