Sami Zayn vs. Cody Rhodes WWE title match set for Raw

Cody Rhodes earns WWE Championship match

A big title match is set for Monday’s Raw.

Cody Rhodes won a number one contender’s match on this week’s SmackDown to earn an immediate rematch against Sami Zayn for the WWE Championship. It will happen in just a matter of days on this coming Monday’s WWE Raw that will take place in Chicago.

Zayn, who won the title last weekend at Night of Champions, came out on Friday and talked about his win when Rhodes interrupted him. The two went back and forth until Jey Uso came out to congratulate Zayn while also making his own claim for the title. Adam Pearce, the interim SmackDown GM, came out and made a number one contender’s match for later on in the show.

In the main event, Rhodes proceeded to defeat Uso to become the new number one contender for the title, pinning him after a crossroads.

Prior to the number one contender’s match, an irate Zayn complained to Pearce backstage, saying that he was a SmackDown wrestler and questioned why he would have to defend the title on Raw. Pearce didn’t give much of a reason other than he would make Monday’s show a supershow featuring wrestlers from both brands.

Already set for Monday is a World Tag Team title match pitting the Street Profits against Austin Theory and Bron Breakker.
