WWE Extreme Rules PPV coverage: Randy Orton vs. Rollins, Cena vs, Rusev chain match

Welcome to our live coverage of tonight's Extreme Rules from the All-State Arena in Chicago.  We're looking for your thoughts on tonight's show as well as last night's UFC show, so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to dave@wrestlingobserver.com

BAD NEWS BARRETT VS. NEVILLE

Good opener.  Barrett missed the bull hammer and Neville used a high kick and the Red Arrow.  They should have put Neville over because it was a replacement match.  It was like most Neville matches, a few good acrobatic spots, a well worked match with one cool dive.

The tag team title match has been moved to the main show.

DEAN AMBROSE VS. LUKE HARPER STREET FIGHT

They had a brawl with kendo stick shots.  They ended up both going backstage and brawled.  Harper jumped into a car.  Ambrose tried to get in but was knocked out.  Ambrose then dove into the car as Harper drove off, so the match just ended.  No doubt they'll be back later in the show

Kane and Seth Rollins are backstage.  Rollins asked why Kane threw him into a spear on Thursday.  They started arguing.  Kane said he's been acting like an ungrateful little punk ever since he won the title.  HHH sided with Rollins and told Kane he's spent a lot of time trying to prove he's the man he used to be.  He told Kane he didn't want him letting him down tonight.  Kane assured both of them he'd do what was best for business.  The crowd was chanting "boring" so they turned down the sound

SHEAMUS VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER KISS MY ARSE MATCH

Really good, but shorter than you'd think.  They were going to near falls sbout 5:00 in and Ziggler won with an inside cradle off a slam by Sheamus.  Fans were chanting "Pucker up." Ziggler teasing pulling down his trunks.  Sheamus was refusing to kiss.  Sheamus kept stalling.  Crowd was really hot as they were stalling.  This is a great crowd.  Sheamus instead gave him a low blow and Brogue Kick.  It got a lot of heat.  Sheamus on the mic said, "You didn't think I'd really kiss your ass, especially in this stinking down". He rubbed Ziggler's face in his ass.

TYSON KIDD & CESARO VS. NEW DAY FOR TAG TITLES

This was about as good a match they could have given the time.  Really great.  All kinds of great stuff including Big E tackling Kidd through the ropes.  It was E & Kingston as the team.  Super heat.  New Day was over great as heels.  They traded all kinds of finishers.  Cesaro & Kidd did the giant swing into dropkick on Kingston but E saved.  Xavier Woods distraced the ref.  Natty slapped Woods.  Kingston used a schoolboy holding the trunks to pin Cesaro and win the titles.  Kidd & Cesaro were just great here.

New Day was doing a promo when the car showed up and Ambrose and Harper showed back and are brawling backsage.  Ambrose was driving as they came back.  Harper is back in the arena and Ambrose jumped on him.

DEAN AMBROSE VS. LUKE HARPER STREET FIGHT #2

They both threw a ton of chairs into the ring, had a short brawl.  Harper power bombed him on the chairs for a near fall  Ambrose came back by slamming Harper off the top and then used the Dirty Deeds for the pin.  This brawl went about 3:00.

JOHN CENA VS. RUSEV RUSSIAN CHAIN MATCH FOR US TITLE

The chain match hurt this a lot more than helped im.  It's just hard to work a chain match when you can't use the chain for shots; it was just a tag the posts match. The big deal was Lana clearly going face as Rusev kicked her out when the fans was chanting like crazy for her.  Cena used the STF but Rusev made the ropes.  Rusev used the Accolade and touched two corners but Cena broke it up.  The finish saw both guys hit three corners and Cena hit the Attitude Adjustjent and Cena touched the fourth corner.  It came across like the end of he feud.

NIKKI BELLA VS. NAOMI FOR DIVAS TITLE

Above average match.  Nikki won with the Rack Attack and I'm not sure that's the finish they should have done.  Early in the match Naomi attacked Brie on the floor.  So the finish saw Brie kick Naomi in the head while the ref was distracted by Nikki and then Nikki used the rack attack for the pin.

Rusev was yelling at Lana for screwing up.  She was really sad and knocked on a door and went in to The Authority's office.

ROMAN REIGNS VS. BIG SHOW LAST MAN STANDING

Really wild match.  They stalled a lot early but the last part of the match was a ton of stunts with tables involved.  The finish saw Reigns tackle Show on the American table and they went through the Spanish table.  Show got up, but Reigns turned the American table over onto Show and he was buried underneath and couldn't get up for a ten count.  Show did a great job taking bumps and getting Reigns over with what came across as a big win.  Reigns gave him a Samoan drop through a table.  Show choke slammed Reigns over the top rope through two tables.  Reigns speared Show through the barricade near the finish.

Randy Orton told Kane that when The Authority is done using you they're going to throw him out like garbage.  Orton told Kane that he knew who he was even if you've forgot.

Bo Dallas came out for an interview.  He insulted the audience.  So who is going to destroy him.  Why Ryback.  Dallas attacked him.  Ryback came back and laid him out with shell shock.

Well Cena vs. Rusev isn't over, they announced a final match at Payback in three weeks as an I Quit match.

SETH ROLLINS VS. RANDY ORTON CAGE MATCH FOR WWE TITLE RKO BANNED

Rollins won of course.  The match was well worked not outstanding, with the controversy that Rollins used the RKO and crawled through the door to win.  The idea is that was the RKO banned, or only banned for Orton.  Long match but it built for the Kane spots.  Rollins went to dropkick Orton who moved and he hit Kane and knocked him off the apron.  Kane blew up and tore off his shirt.  He slammed the cage door on both.  Then he got in the ring and teased choke slamming Rollins, but instead choke slammed Orton.  Then he choke slammed Rollins.  Kane put Rollins on top of Orton when both were out, but Orton kicked out.  Orton then gave Kane an RKO but Rollins gave Orton the RKO and crawled out the cage to win.
