WWE hires new ring announcer for SmackDown

WWE has hired a new broadcast team member to take over ring announcing duties on SmackDown.

Mark Shunock, who recently departed Top Rank Boxing as their ring announcer, revealed today that he has signed with WWE and will begin in his role on SmackDown this Friday. Shunock will be going by the name “Mark Nash” in WWE, and he tweeted that he’s thrilled for this new career opportunity.

Shunock is the in-arena host for the Las Vegas Golden Knights of the NHL and has a background acting in Broadway plays. He is originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.

After Alicia Taylor moved over to Raw at the start of 2025, Lilian Garcia filled in as SmackDown’s ring announcer on a temporary basis. Garcia confirmed earlier this month that her stint on SmackDown has come to an end, but she’ll be remaining with WWE in a new role that includes doing the ring announcing for Saturday Night’s Main Event.

SmackDown is taking place from The O2 in London this week and will be headlined by a contract signing for Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk’s triple threat match at WrestleMania 41.
